View Full Version : Shimon Peres on The Doha Debates:
I watched this video and hope you give it a chance. Anyone that has read my posts knows I have been critical of Isreali policies as many others have,
My first responce is that i'm impressed and offer some admiration for Shimon Perez for accepting the invitation and showing resolve and patience. Most of the comments, questions I would have asked were asked and presented by the host rather then the audience and I have to give him credit he answered them much better then i could ever expect. It leaves room for discussion and debate.

Btw, yes i did take note that he emphasized leave the past behind, that is more difficult then he presents but he pushed the point at the expence of many lives, so i'm not naive to his intentions, but as i said above i did enjoy it and it brought many of our posts to light and allowed some credence to his points of lets look to a future.

Great video Pete, I can see what you mean, under the bombarbment of some tough questions he responded not only articulately but with precise clever reply. It may be why he received an applause at the end.
Good vid! Peres has always seem to have a good head on his holders, at least from what I have seen. Unfortunately, he will preobably be upstaged by Netanyahu.

Peres did a whole lot to arm Israel.
It wouod be nice to leave the past behind, as was done with Egypt. it is hard to leave the past behind when you are currently being rocketed and Iran is a looming threat.
Do you think the Arabs can leave the past behind?
No Israel cannot leave the past beind. But on the hand they want everyone else to forget the past and focus on the present.

As you have read in my posts on this thread, I was rather reassured and even comforted with Shimon Perez and that there was a turn to middle east Israeli opportunity for some improvement in past methods but with this week, the killing of the 2 14 year old girls , supposedly near launchers and the killing of the young lad sitting under a fig tree with the IDF showing little or no regard for their lives is dispeakable. While I enjoyed watching him debate and defend Israel with articulate phrases, I now think hes a smooth talker with empty statements. The cruel brutality continues while the world sits with their fingers up their ass watching it happen.

Aifo, why do you continue , with this find the fault in the Arabs or the constant reminder of rockets falling in Israel, FFS man if those rockets killed 2 Israeli citizens the IDF would mascreing innocent civillians by the dozens in the streets of Gaza and the West Bank. We both know that, but if it makes you feel at ease that you can dismiss the murder of innocent kids and you can lie on your couch without your conscience bothering with justifying it with this loose statement of rockets falling Israel then good for you .
