Intersting bit of reporting. thoughts?

Try to imagine a peaceful and stable Iraq where business is booming and Americans are beloved. Now open your eyes because 60 Minutes is going to take you to a part of Iraq which fits that description: it's called Kurdistan.

Technically, it's inside Iraq but the Kurds who live there behave as if they already live in a separate state. As correspondent Bob Simon reports, they have their own prime minister, their own army, their own border patrol—even their own flag. And the overwhelming majority of Kurds will tell you they want nothing to do with Baghdad and the rest of Iraq.

They will be the true winners of this US invasion of Iraq in the end. Those Americans that gave their lives will not have given them in vain as we will see a Kurdistan seeking it's independence and allied to to the US. Not sure how much Turkey will like this or those Shiites and Sunnis who will feel left out and on the losing side of this war, but they will seek for protection from Saudia Arabia and Iran.

I will agree. The Kurds were crapped on in 1917 and again by the US after the first Bush war and they will not let it happen again. It was never their intention for themselves to be a state within the Federal system; an independent state has always been there pursuit. They would sleep with the devil to acheive that end.

Yeppp, the US will install a puppet someone like Karzai from Afghanastan and they will dance to American dominence in their country.
Of course if the Shiites decide they dont like the Kurds we can expect another front of a cruel civil war.
